Who are Gilly's Electrical?
Gilly's Electrical are a small electrical and ventilation firm based in Folkestone, Kent. They do everything from rewires and consumer unit upgrades to MVHR systems and extractor fan installs. Good at what they do, fully insured, been trading for years.
The problem? Their website didn't reflect any of that.
The problem with their old site
When I first looked at it, the site was pretty rough. It wasn't mobile-friendly, barely readable on a phone, and nearly everyone searching for a local electrician is on their phone. There were no real service pages, just a wall of text dumped on one page. No CTAs. No contact form that worked properly. Nothing to make a visitor think "yeah, this is a professional I can trust."
"It wasn't generating leads. People would land on it and bounce. You can't blame them, the site didn't give them a reason to get in touch."
What I built
I started from scratch. The goal was simple: build a site that turns visitors into enquiries. Everything else is secondary to that.
Project at a glance
Here's what went into it:
- Multi-page structure, Home, Services, About, Contact. Each service got its own section so the site could rank for specific searches ("electrician Folkestone", "MVHR installation Kent", etc.).
- Mobile-first design, built to look great on a phone first, desktop second. Floating call and WhatsApp buttons on mobile so people can get in touch without even scrolling.
- Contact forms, a proper enquiry form that actually sends emails. Not just a mailto link that half the time doesn't work.
- Google Reviews integration, pulled in their Google rating to show trust signals right on the homepage. Social proof matters, especially for trades.
- Trust signals throughout, "Fully Insured" badges, clear areas covered, professional photography where available. Little things that add up.
- FAQ section, answers the questions people actually have before they pick up the phone. Reduces friction.
- SEO basics, proper page titles, meta descriptions, structured headings, local keyword targeting. Nothing fancy, just done properly.
The approach
The design is clean and professional, dark green colour scheme that fits the brand, clean white space, easy to scan. I'm not trying to win design awards. I'm trying to get visitors to click "Get a Quote."
"Every section of the page has a purpose. It flows, hero, services, trust signals, contact. No dead ends."
I also made sure the site loads fast. A slow site is a dead site on mobile.
Results
The site was built to convert. That means clear calls to action, no dead ends, and a design that doesn't get in the way. Whether that's translating into quote requests is something that builds over time as the SEO kicks in and word of mouth spreads, but the foundation is solid.
At minimum, any visitor who lands on the site now gets a professional, trustworthy impression. That alone is a massive upgrade from where they started.
